You have now been married for roughly a month and a half. How does it feel? Fantastic, no doubt!
I wanted to thank you for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day. I had a hoot. You, your family, and friends were so easy to work with it's not even funny. Except that it was funny because they're all hilarious, and I'm sure by now you know how much I love working with people who embrace humour in life! Which you all do.
On a serious note, though, I've decided to keep those potentially embarrassing reception stories I heard a secret. You're welcome.

What you wish your kids were like vs what your kids are really like... ??
I find it's so important at family sessions to let kids goof off. They get so bored trying to behave and keep their clothes from getting all ruffled. But when I throw in a, "OK give me a silly face!" request here and there it breaks up the routine and keeps them interested and engaged. They get excited to smile for the camera because they're having fun knowing silliness is around the corner.
I talk a lot about how to prepare your kids for your photo session. You can guess why... young ones can be unpredictable and uncontrollable. But it's part of their charm!
Check out Callaghan's family photos for example. Sure, there's a few in here of him crying, but those moments only lasted for a few seconds. He got some snuggles from Mom then he was off to his silly shenanigans again. The overall result isn't a confused or stressed Callaghan, but some photos of his real personality (which is pretty cool, by the way).

When I first met you I didn't realize how much I would enjoy working with you. Over the past year I've loved getting to know you, learning your sense of humour, and connecting over our mutual love of cats. Thank you for being such amazing people.
Your ceremony was beautiful calm and bursting at the seams with love and light. Congratulations on your marriage! I'm so looking forward to watching your lives grow together.

I seem to be on a tears-and-cuddles kick with little ones. They're not this small forever, and while you want to remember how charming and sweet they were when they were little, you'll also remember how they came to you for comfort.
You'll also probably remember these moments... My mother often tells the story of the time she was upset with her parents, packed up "all of her stuff" and moved to the neighbours for a couple hours.
Parents often feel a bit of panic when this happens during their shoot but the truth is if you stay calm and comfort them your kids will get over whatever upset them real quick! We're able to move on to more smiles and laughter, and you'll also get a few super real photos. Because the truth is, this is part of childhood.
